Downloading and Activating a Game

How do I download a game?

Step 1: Locate the game you would like to play.

Step 2: Click the Try It For Free button on the game page.

Step 3: When prompted, choose Save.

Step 4: Save the product to your desktop.

Step 5: Wait for the download to complete then click Run to start the installation process.

Step 6: Complete the Installation.

Step 7: Once the product is installed, run it from your Start > Programs menu, or click the icon on your desktop.

Step 8: To start the game click on the Play Free Trial button.



I lost or deleted my game. How do I get it back? Follow these steps to reinstall a game you have lost or deleted:
  • Step 1: On our Web site, go to the game detail page for the game you need to reinstall and click the Try It for Free button to download the game again.
  • Step 2: Once you have downloaded and installed the trial version, launch the game. You should see a page that has three options: Free Trial, Buy This Game, Unlock to Own.
  • Step 3: Under Unlock to Own, enter the email address and password you provided at time of purchase. This information can be found in the confirmation email you received at the time you purchased your game. Once you enter your email address and password, the full version of the purchased game will unlock.


How do I install my game on another computer?
  • Your purchase gives you license to install the game on a total of three computers that you own. Once you have used up the three installations, you will need to purchase the game again to reinstall it a fourth time.

    To perform this installation, follow these instructions:

    Step 1: Make sure you have Internet access on the computer where you are installing the game.

    Step 2: Download the game it by clicking on the Try It for Free button on the game detail page on the Nick Arcade Web site.

    Step 3: When prompted, choose Save, and save the file to your desktop.

    Step 4: Wait for the download to complete, then double-click the game icon to start the installation process. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.

    Step 5: Run the game. A screen will appear with options to Play Free Trial, Buy This Game, Unlock to Own.

    Step 6: Under Unlock to Own, enter the email address and password you provided at time of purchase. This information can be found in the confirmation email you received at the time you purchased your game. Once you enter your email address and password, the full version of the purchased game will unlock.

If you don't remember your password, go to the My Account page and select the 'Forgot Your Password' link. Enter in the email address you used to purchase the game and your password will be emailed to you.

What is the Nick Arcade Pass?

How do I order a Nick Arcade Pass?

Step 1: To purchase a Nick Arcade Pass, please go here: Arcade Pass and select one of our three plans.



Step 2: Select a plan. There are several packages to choose from:
  • Arcade Pass - 3 Games: $9.99 for each game, with a 3 game-minimum commitment.
  • Arcade Pass - 6 Games: $7.99 for each game, with a 6 game-minimum commitment.
  • Arcade Pass - 12 Games: $6.99 for each game, with a 12 game-minimum commitment.

Step 3: Follow the simple on-screen instructions and you will complete your purchase. The relevant Arcade Pass instructions will be e-mailed to you at completion of your purchase.

Why is there a minimum game commitment?

The Arcade Pass program works like a bulk shopping store. In order to receive the absolute lowest prices possible, you must make a commitment to buy more than one game. If however, you find one game that you love but do not want to make a multi-game commitment, you can always simply buy that game for the regular price (in most cases, $19.99 per game).

How do I use my Nick Arcade Pass?

Step 1: Select the Try It For Free button for the game(s) you want to purchase with your Arcade Pass and follow the instructions to download it.

Step 2: Make sure you have Internet access on the computer where you are installing the game.

Step 3: When prompted, choose Save, and save the file to your desktop.

Step 4: Wait for the download to complete, then double-click the game icon to start the installation process. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.

Step 5: Run the game. A screen will appear with options to Play Free Trial, Buy This Game, Unlock to Own.

Step 6: Under Unlock to Own, enter the email address and password you provided when you signed up for an Arcade Pass. This information can be found in the confirmation email you received at the time you signed up for the Arcade Pass. If you have an Arcade Pass credit (one is provided monthly as part of your subscription service), your game will unlock free of charge, although you can choose to purchase a backup CD. If you have no Arcade Pass Credits, you will be able to purchase your game at the discounted Arcade Pass price.

Does the Arcade Pass work on both NickArcade.com and NickJrArcade.com?

YES! Use your Arcade Game Pass credits (one credit is provided monthly as part of your subscription service) or purchase unlimited games at your discounted subscription price to purchase games on either the Nick Arcade or Nick Jr. Arcade sites.

When do I receive Arcade Pass Credits?

An Arcade Pass Credit is issued to you automatically every 28 days as part of your subscription service. In addition, you can purchase unlimited games anytime at your discounted subscription price.

Why doesn't my Arcade Pass login work?

The email and password you provided at time of sign up is not being entered correctly. If you continue to have problems, you can retrieve your password by going to the site's My Account page, entering your email address and selecting "Forgot my password."

How do I cancel my account?

To cancel your membership, click here.

**Please note the following: Per our Terms of Use you will be required to fulfill your game order commitment prior to cancellation.

  • Arcade Pass - 3 Games: 3 Game Purchases at $9.99
  • Arcade Pass - 6 Games: 6 Game Purchases at $7.99
  • Arcade Pass - 12 Games: 12 Game Purchases at $6.99

Your game commitment is based on the package which you signed up for. If you still have games to buy before you cancel, you will be directed to your shopping cart showing the total cost for the remaining purchases needed to fulfill your commitment. You can then proceed to check out and unlock any games you want with those credits.

Once this is completed your account will be cancelled. If you have fulfilled your commitment you will skip the shopping cart portion and go directly to the cancellation page. Any unused Game Credits can still be used by downloading the games you want, launching a game after the download, and entering your Arcade Pass login information in the Unlock to Own area.

I pay for my Arcade Pass through PayPal, how can I cancel?

If you signed up for your Arcade Pass prior to August 23, 2006, here is how you cancel:

If you normally pay for your monthly subscription by Paypal, then log in to your Paypal account to cancel your subscription, www.paypal.com.

Go to the "History" subtab of the "My Account" tab.

Choose "Subscriptions" from the pull-down "Show" menu and press the "Submit" button. Choose this subscription, and click on its "Status." You will be taken to a Transaction Details page from which you may cancel your subscription.

Canceling your subscription will immediately stop all future scheduled payments for this subscription. You will still be able to redeem any unused coupons in your account.

CD Questions

Why am I being charged for a backup CD?

The CD will give you access to a backup copy of your game, eliminating the need to download it if you should need to reinstall it. The CD also contains trial versions of the most popular games on the site - giving you easy access to dozens of great games!

If you would prefer not to receive the CD simply select 'No' below the "Purchase Backup CD with Free Shipping?" box on your Cart Review page and it will be subtracted from the purchase price.

How long will it take to get my CD?

Depending on where you live, you should receive your back up CD within a week.

Do I need the CD to play the game?

You don't have to wait for the CD to play your games. Once you complete your purchase, simply download the game you have purchased and follow the on-screen instructions to unlock it.

What is on the CD?

The CD contains trial versions of the top games from our site. These function the same way as our game downloads do. You can install and purchase them the same way as you do the games on our site.

Why is the game I purchased only a trial version on the CD?

The CD contains trial versions of the top games on our site (including the game you purchased). If you have not already downloaded the game you purchased you can install the game from the CD and follow these simple activation instructions.

How do I redeem a Gift Certificate?

Step 1: Find the game you want on www.nickarcade.com or arcade.nickjr.com.

Step 2: Click on the 'CLICK TO BUY' Button. You'll be taken to a sign in page where you can sign in if you're a returning customer or click CONTINUE CHECKOUT if you're a new customer.

Step 3: Enter the gift code from your Gift Certificate in the field at the bottom of the Cart Review page and click APPLY. Proceed through checkout as directed, downloading your game at the end of the process.

Game Problems

I get a message saying "Online Connection Required."

It is likely that your personal firewall application is preventing your product from contacting our servers in order to complete the licensing process. To remedy this you can temporarily* disable your firewall software until you have successfully installed, and activated your purchase.

I'm receiving a "Failed to contact nickarcade.com" or "Online Connection Required" message when entering my key information. What should I do?

The "Failed to contact nickcarcade.com" or "Online Connection Required" message indicates that your browser or computer's security settings are not allowing the downloaded game to communicate with our server during the unlock process. Please review the following list of helpful troubleshooting tips:

Be sure you are connected to the Internet before opening the program.
Please check the security zone setting of your Internet browser's preferences. If the security is set too high, you might be blocked from accessing our server.
Make sure that the date on your computer is set correctly.
If you use any ad-blocking or security software, please disable it temporarily.
Make sure you are not behind a firewall or other heightened security measure. The most common cause of this type of error is a firewall, proxy server, or similar product preventing the program from properly contacting the correct servers at Nick Arcade. If you are unable to temporarily disable your firewall, please try opening ports 80 and 22.
If you are using Internet Explorer 5, upgrading to Internet Explorer 6 can often resolve this issue. This can be done at Microsoft's site or from third party sites like http://www.downloads.com.
If this issue persists and you are using Windows OS, please open Internet Explorer and go to: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Click on the "Scan for updates" link to get the latest updates available for your computer's operating system. High Encryption Pack and 'Root Certificates Update' should both be selected if they are available on this page.
If you are still unable to unlock the full version, please open Internet Explorer and go to the Tools menu, then Internet Options > Advanced Settings > Security, and temporarily uncheck the box for: "Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)". Restart your computer and try again.
ZoneAlarm users: Even while disabled, ZoneAlarm can block access to the internet. You will need to make certain that the software is allowed access to the internet.
If you are using McAfee Personal Firewall, please do the following:

  1. Right Click the McAfee icon in your task bar
  2. Select Personal Firewall
  3. Select View Applications
  4. Look through the list, and make certain that the program is not a blocked application. If it is, select it, and click the Delete Application Rule button.
  5. Start the program
  6. McAfee Firewall will display an alert that tells you that the software is attempting to access the internet. Click the Grant Access button

AOL users: Please make sure that you have established a successful Internet connection to AOL before continuing. If you continue to experience problems, go to your 'Control Panel', double-click on 'Internet Options' and click on the 'Connections' tab. Under the 'Dial-up Settings' section, make sure that you have selected 'Always dial my default connection'.
If you use a download accelerator or download manager, such as NetZip, Go!Zilla or GetRight, please disable it temporarily.

How to disable your personal firewall in Windows XP:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall.
  2. Under General tab, select Off.
  3. Important: Remember to come back and turn your firewall on after you've finished downloading and installing the game(s).

*Nick Arcade strongly recommends that you re-enable your personal firewall software after licensing your product. We must also remind you that disabling your personal firewall software is done at your own risk and Nick Arcade specifically disclaims any liability or claims for damage arising from your decision to disable the software.

I'm getting an error that my game (or the Nick Arcade toolbar) has a virus.

Some anti-virus or personal firewall applications incorrectly identify our games as "viruses" and disrupt or block the software from running. Please be assured that games that come from us or our partners are virus-free. One of the following may solve the problem:

  1. Update your anti-virus software. Check the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to do this.
  2. Temporarily* disable your personal firewall until you have downloaded, installed, and activated your purchase.

How to disable your personal firewall on Windows XP:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall.
  2. Under the General tab, select Off*.
  3. Important: Remember to repeat these steps to turn your firewall on again after you've finished downloading and installing the game(s).

Please Note: If you're evaluating the free trial version and you see a blank page or error message when you open or close the game, your personal firewall product is the most likely cause. You will need to temporarily disable your personal firewall to see the correct page, which should give you the option to play or buy the game.

Why am I being asked to insert a CD to run the game?

If you are being asked to insert Disk 2, it simply means that your game download has been interrupted or that the installation is incomplete. Your computer is simply looking for the missing information.

To fix this problem, you will need to delete your last download of the game. To do this in Windows:

  • Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
  • In the Add or Remove Programs screen, find the game you need to remove and click the Change/Remove button to start the uninstall wizard.
  • Click the Uninstall button to remove the game.

You can then return to the Nick Arcade Web site to download and reinstall the game. As long as your download is not interrupted again, you should not have same problem.

We recommend using a broadband connection for faster and smoother downloads.

My game is crashing (or the screen is going blank).

This problem is often caused by incompatibilities between the drivers for your graphics card and the game you are trying to use.

Perform the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Make sure that you have the most current video card drivers installed for your system. On Windows XP, you can find the most current drivers by running Windows Update. Click Start > All Programs > Windows Update.
  2. Make sure you have the most current version of Microsoft's DirectX installed on your system. Go to Microsoft's DirectX Web site. Follow the on-screen instructions to download. When you are prompted to Save or Open the file, choose Open and proceed through the installation.
  3. Reboot your computer.
  4. Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  5. Try launching the game again.

If these steps don't resolve your issue, your computer may not have the correct configuration to run the product. The amount of memory, hard disk space or the operating system you are running may prevent you from using your product correctly. Each game has specific system requirements which are listed on its game page. Please compare these requirements with your current configuration.

I am getting a "Software Title Not Available" error.

This usually indicates a disconnect between your system and ours. If you receive this message when you are attempting to download or activate a game please delete your last download and start the process again either from the link in your confirmation email or from our website.
